What makes you enjoy working with seniors? I have found that working with the older population allows for a unique bi-lateral learning exchange between patient and clinician. We all have a unique set of experiences that can aid us in adapting to change, as time is a strong molder of wisdom.

Therefore, I enjoy partaking in the shifting perceptions that transpire as clients walk me through their personal history. Why do you think online therapy is effective for seniors? I believe that online therapy allows for the convenience of receiving services from the comfort of your home.

This can serve to be very useful for individuals who may have health related limitations but still require therapeutic support. How do you approach therapy sessions? I tend to approach therapy with a keen understanding that it is an honor for someone to allow me to partake in their life story for even for a short while.

My first session tends to be a session that focuses on getting to know you and your reasons for seeking services. The next sessions will continue my learning process with your story while I also provide tools and insights that may help you better understand/cope with some of the underlying factors of emotional processing in your story. My approach will always be collaborative and you will always be very much a partner in the process of treatment.

What is your advice to someone who is starting therapy for the first time? Carl Rogers has a quote which I believe encompasses the most important aspect of starting therapy and it goes like this: "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." The minute you become willing to engage in the journey of a healthier you, then and only then will you be able to become what you strive to be which is your best self.
