Since graduating from Mercer University College of Health Professions Doctoral Clinical Psychology program in 2020, I have been working in various fields of psychology, dedicated to utilization of evidence based psychotherapies to treat a variety of different mental health disorders. I have vast experience working with depression, grief, anxiety, chronic pain management, and health related factors. I am licensed to practice in the state of Iowa. Currently, and for the past 2 years, I have been employed with the Department of Veteran Affairs working in a primary care and mental health integration setting. My current role as a therapist on TotalLife.com enables me to focus on my passion to support older adults and that’s important to me because often time in our health care system older adults get left behind and I want to help remedy that failure.
About I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 5 total years experience focusing on treatment of depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. My experience also includes working with many demographics including older adults. In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in order to help clients improve their moods, activity levels, coping skills, and general well being. I often work with clients to address co-morbid health related factors that impact mental health. My counseling style is open and non-judgmental, centered around authentic and honest communication. Many of my clients have said “Dr. Popovic truly listens and hears what I am saying” I take the time to advocate and empower all individuals I work with to take active roles regarding their wellness. For me, it’s an honor to walk alongside patients as they progress through therapy and life! In my spare time, I like to play tennis, watch movies, and try new restaurants. My favorite quote is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose” by Dr. Seuss because it serves as a reminder that we have the ability to choose our path in life.
