Learn more about Rae

Every human life has stories replete with loves, losses, suffering, hope, and everything in between. Those at later developmental stages often have time to reflect on the life they have created — the nest is empty, the rhythm of life slows, and mind has time to either wander into the past or wonder about the present. In my experience, these metaphysical, spiritual, and cognitive journeys are, at times, accompanied by sadness, grief, hurt, rage, and stress. Should these feelings fester too long, distress and dis-ease becomes familiar companions. I enjoy working with older adults to manage the psychological and physical symptoms while systemically sorting through life, determining their best hopes for the future, and identifying their path forward.

Online therapy can be held at your permanent address, your RV, your room at the nursing facility, or any other private space. It allows for flexibility and does not require an office visit!

Life changes impact our social, emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual wellness. As we age, we are confronted with grief and loss, separation from children/loved ones, financial stressors, chronic pain, chronic illness, and the existential question, “What’s next?”, or, “What is the meaning of this life?” In my experience, each of these events, issues, and questions overtax our already delicate psyche. This is lead us to despair, fear, and grief. When these feelings persist, they can lead to illnesses, such as depression and anxiety, or lead to dangerous habits such as addiction. AREAS OF COMPETENCE: Holistic Sex Therapy/Sex Education; Mediation; Cooperative and Parallel Parenting; Nature Based Therapeutic Interventions; Spiritual Care; Harm Reduction; Mindfulness Practices; Anger Management/Emotional Dysregulation; Narrative/Therapeutic Writing; Trauma/Suffering/Despair/Healing through Dark Emotions; TMS/Mind-Body Syndrome

My therapy practice is informed by the following therapeutic approaches and inventions: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Narrative and Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Therapy, & Nature-Based Interventions. I utilize a multi-modal approach to counseling that is culturally informed, holistic, person-centered, and empirically-based. I believe in treating the whole person; therefore, expect robust discussions that include, but are not limited to: your emotions, your thinking, your soul or spiritual center, your sexuality/sexual health, and your physical health. The therapy process includes teaching moments, building wellbeing toolkits, exploring joy, and infusing take-aways or homework, so that there is continued focus on your wellbeing outside of the therapy session.
