Learn more about Paula

I enjoy working with seniors because they possess a lifetime of knowledge and experience. I like hearing their unique life stories, learning about their accomplishments, and helping them increase feelings of life satisfaction. And since I am also a “senior”, I relate well to members of the Silent and Baby Boomer generations who experienced many of the same cultural and historical events that I did.

Over time, I have come to appreciate the many benefits of online therapy. Along with being convenient and easy to use, it allows people to receive therapy in the comfort of their own homes.

My experience includes working as the director of a college counseling center, a staff psychologist at the VA, and a licensed psychologist in private practice. For many years, I also taught graduate courses in psychotherapy and psychological assessment at a major university.

Throughout my career, I have utilized many approaches to therapy such as cognitive-behavior therapy, problem-solving therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. But since each individual is complex and faces a unique set of challenges, I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Instead, I work to form a strong therapeutic relationship with the client and a full understanding of his or her needs. Once goals are established, we discuss various treatment approaches and work collaboratively to develop an overall but flexible treatment plan.
