Learn more about Luanne

I have a keen interest in supporting older adults to address the challenges that come within the aging process, to live a meaningful, purposeful life and foster autonomy and independence in all possible ways. Often times, older adults have never had the opportunity to focus on themselves as they were meeting the responsibilities of raising families, careers and being caretakers for their own parents or siblings. Now is a time in their lives when they can make their needs a priority and they deserve to do so! Life’s challenges never stop and helping others tap into their resiliency and strengths, is one thing that brings purpose to my life.

Online therapy is convenient and allows someone to stay in the comfort and safety of their own home. While online therapy may initially feel awkward because it is a “new thing”, I have found that people settle into the experience pretty quickly. It is part of my job to help people feel connected to me and to feel comfortable with online therapy.

I am keenly aware of how precious a person’s life stories and experiences are to them. I honor a person’s right to talk or not talk about specific situations or feelings. I will invite someone to explore the more challenging thoughts, feelings and experiences and accept their choice of what and when they want to share with me.

It is okay to feel apprehension about starting therapy; it is normal! I also encourage anyone to not give up on therapy if they don’t “click” with their assigned therapist. That therapist may be a skilled, good therapist but not the best match for you. That happens and it is perfectly okay to ask to connect to a different therapist.
