Since graduating from LSU School of Social Work in 1989, I have worked in multiple settings, including: inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient substance abuse care, Home Health and the Louisiana Department of Health/Medicaid Office. I have vast experience working in the field of mental health and substance abuse, especially in dealing with depression and anxiety symptoms, maladaptive thought patterns and dysfunctional behaviors. The family system is an important aspect of the therapy sessions. I have been licensed in the state of Louisiana since 1992 and plan to pursue other licenses as my practice expands. My current role as a therapist for TotalLife.com enables me to focus my passion to support older adults in their golden years with the goal to help individuals function at their highest level possible.
About I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Louisiana with 30 years of post-masters work experience. I have done clinical work for 15 years with individuals, groups and families with a specialized focus on dealing with the effects of trauma, depression and substance abuse on the family system. In my sessions, I use evidenced-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy to help clients move out of a negative and self-blaming situation to one of self-protection, forgiveness and self-esteem. My counseling style is warm and empathic. For me it is an honor to participate in an individuals’ journey to self-discovery and insight. A favorite quote of mine from Shakespeare is “To thine own self be true”.
