Persons who have lived alot of life generally have fascinating life histories, hard-earned wisdom, and a sage perspective, as well as a possible weariness of bearing emotional burdens over the years, and frustration at the limitations that come with aging. I enjoy engaging around all of these things, and supporting persons to utilize their own knowledge, experiences and strengths, as well as new information and skills to reach their goals. I am also a senior, so I enjoy working with peers in my own life stage.

I have been providing online therapy to seniors for the past 3 years, and have found that it works as well as in person therapy for most people. Many of my past clients have made significant progress in improving their mental health and lives in general, despite us never having seen one another in person! I find that relationships work regardless of age, whether online or in person, when both people can be present and are committed to the work of therapy.
I am trained and competent in addressing common mental health issues seniors may have such as anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and historical trauma. I have also worked with seniors adjusting to the life stressors that accompany aging such as declines in health, physical, cognitive function; and financial limitations, loss of loved ones, estrangement from family and friends, chronic pain, relocation to a new living situation, loss of autonomy and changes in significant life roles. I also helped family members better deal with the practical and emotional demands of caring for a physically or cognitively impaired older relative, and have helped individuals who are in early stages of dementia build coping skills.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning I help with whatever a client brings forth. I am also very practical in looking at what strategies the client feels might be most helpful, and we make those decisions together. I use approaches from various modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization & Processing, and Somatic therapies to assist clients in healing.
