Meet Shannon

I started working as a clinical social worker and therapist in 2000. I am certified as a Grief Professional, ADHD Professional, and Parent Coach. I have worked with a wide range of ages, from preschool, up through the senior population.

My work has served people impacted by disabilities, chronic health issues, poverty, depression, anxiety, substance abuse issues, grief, parent-child relationships, as well as other mental health diagnoses.

In addition to what is mentioned above, I have worked in school settings, ER's doing crisis psych evaluations, and the insurance setting as a case manager.

Q&A with Shannon

Getting to know Shannon

What do you enjoy most about working with older adults?

I enjoy working with seniors because they have an incredible amount of wisdom, unique perspectives, and I think their voices and life experiences are really important to hear and honor.

Why does online therapy work well for older adults?

I have seen the effectiveness of online therapy for seniors over these last four years firsthand. Seniors who felt intimidated by accessing mental health care felt less stigma getting a phone call from a kind counselor each week. Those with transportation, health, or physical limitations, or in rural areas, no longer had those as barriers.

How do you approach therapy sessions?

I provide a gentle, supportive approach to clients. I draw on cognitive behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness based approaches. I help clients identify goals they want to work on that are measurable and achievable.
