Struggling with a gambling problem

If you or someone you love is struggling with a gambling addiction, know that help is available. At Total Life, we understand the challenges that come with compulsive gambling and are dedicated to helping individuals overcome their addiction and regain control of their lives. One of the key components of our treatment plan is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This form of therapy focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to compulsive gambling. In a safe and confidential setting, you can work with a therapist to explore the underlying causes of your addiction, develop coping strategies to manage cravings or triggers, and learn new skills to support your recovery

A gambling problem, also known as compulsive gambling or gambling disorder, is a type of impulse control disorder in which an individual has difficulty controlling the impulse to gamble despite the negative consequences it may cause in their life.

If you’re concerned that you might have a gambling problem, you can take a gambling problem quiz, which can be found on the National Council on Problem Gambling website. Alternatively, if you would like to speak with a professional please give us a call at 1-800-567-5433 or sign up through our online form.

To know if you have a gambling problem, look out for signs such as gambling with increasing amounts of money, lying about the extent of your gambling, using credit cards to pay for gambling, neglecting work, friends, or family because of gambling, losing interest in hobbies and other activities that were once enjoyed, and turning to drugs or alcohol to cope.
