Since graduating from New York University Silver School of Social Work in 1992, I have been working in various fields of social work, dedicated to crisis intervention, brief as well as a long-term therapy. I have vast experience treating acute or chronic illness, injury and pain, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, transitions, and trauma. I am licensed in Washington and Massachusetts and have LICSW status, CBT and DBT, and trauma-informed treatment certifications. In the past several years, I have worked at Kaiser Permanente, the University of Washington, Rehab Without Walls, and my private practice in Washington State. My current role as a therapist at TotalLife.com enables me to focus on my passion for supporting older adults and that is important to me, as I started out my working life working in a nursing home in high school and believe strongly in the quality of life in the later years of life.
About I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in the medical and mental health field with a focus on chronic health conditions, adjustment to in, jury and illness, and aging. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, families, and groups throughout the lifespan and across many cultures. In my sessions, I use evidence-based techniques, such as motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, CBT, DBT, mindfulness practices, and ACT, in order to best help clients feel better and live more of the life they want. I often work with clients to address anxiety, depression, grief, and loss. My counseling style is eclectic and forthright. Many of my clients have said that I listen and get to know them and adapt the counseling toward what is best for them at that point in their lives. For me, it is an honor to be a witness and help people on their journey through life. In my spare time, I like to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, both in the mountains and on the water. I also like to travel and experience new places and cultures. One of my favorite quotes is “Wisdom is an innate intelligence everyone possesses deep within their souls that will guide you through life from within” by Sydney Banks, because I believe each of us has our own answers and sometimes benefit from alternate perspectives to see that.
